NEW - Try it with Emboss
Displace - Emboss
Snaggers - You are welcome to make the tag, but do NOT snag or post any of these images in ANY groups, webby, Yahoo or MSN! And, I guess I have to put this at the top of the page from now on. :( Do NOT reproduce or duplicate this tute in ANY way. If you want to share how to make this tag, please post THIS page. Image Magic I'm always looking for new and unique things to make at IM. So there I was playing around with this witch and a gradient. Tried a few comps, and nothing grabbed me. I know what comping DISPLACE does to a jpg, & we've tried a few, and no one got real excited over it. BUT - this I think you'll like a lot. Using displace with a gif creates a shadow or outline, along with part of the outline area of the original. Color and intensity will depend on type of bg used. How to on a solid bg Use any gif with a _transparent_ background. Emma has lots of Fall & Winter goodies here. I used this witch . When you make your gradient for any other image, choose a light and dark color. This comp works best with them. So, for the witch - make a 400x400 gradient - (it's in the same dropbox as the xc). In the meta box type midnightblue-peachpuff. Go to composite, and comp the witch CENTER -10-10. Choose DISPLACE from the dropbox. Composite again, and this time choose MULTIPLY. CENTER +30+20 Note - I use multiply because it hides any white raggy stuff that may still be on the gif. If you have a nice clean image, you can comp over if you want. Annotate your name in choice of font. I used ElCid from Nancy's New Fonts. Anno -SouthEast +20+50 ROTATE -15 Point size = 55 Fill color= midnightblue Go to transform & crop +25+0 Resize to whatever pleases you. I used 328!x350. I really dislike the way IM frames images, so I used gradtables to frame mine. If you like the look, here's the code to use. See another example here . Wizard 1 - Comp'd DISPLACE, then SCREEN over indigo-orange gradient. Wizard 2 - On black. Spread 20x20, GB 20x20, resize, comp displace, sharp. Wizard 3 - Comp'd DISPLACE, then OVERLAY over indigo-orange plasma. Have fun! ŠOct 20, 2005 Club Choco Tutes |
